Rules

Rank follows the standing amount.
Nothing else moves it.

UmmahRank is a public board. You sponsor a listing to stand above the others, and everyone can see exactly what that costs. There are no votes, no engagement scores and no private ranking model.

How ranking works

  • Sponsorship is in whole US dollars, from $1.
  • Paying less than #1 still puts you on the board, at whatever rank that amount reaches.
  • Each payment is a fresh 30-day bid. Stripe charges the full bid, and that paid amount becomes the listing's standing bid.
  • A small number of operator-curated launch showcases may carry a clearly labelled standing amount. They are not payments and never count as recognized sponsorship revenue.
  • Anyone may bid behind an eligible listing. To pass it, submit at least $1 more than its standing amount; listings have no payer ownership.
  • Ties go to whoever got there first. To pass a listing on the same amount you need $1 more.
  • App Store, Google Play, GitHub and X links are keyed by their path, so two products from one publisher never share a rank. Tracking query strings are ignored.

What you can list

  • An app on the App Store or Google Play, a product website, or an X @handle.
  • It has to serve Muslims. We read the real public listing — name, description, publisher — and check it, rather than taking your word for it.
  • Chat and invite links are not allowed: Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal and similar. The board is for products and profiles, not group chats.
  • Query parameters are stripped from every link. Affiliate, referral and tracking URLs will not work.
  • No APK mirrors, link shorteners, scams, phishing or malware.

What is refused outright

  • Gambling, betting, casinos and lotteries.
  • Alcohol, pork, and anything built around them.
  • Pornography and adult content.
  • Interest-based and payday lending.
  • Occult, tarot, horoscopes and fortune telling.
  • Mainstream dating, where nothing marks the product as Muslim-serving. Halal matrimonial services are welcome.

After you pay

  • Opening Checkout reserves no price or position. Rank is assigned globally when payment clears and can change whenever another bid succeeds.
  • If the same listing reaches an equal or higher standing bid before payment clears, the stale payment is automatically refunded and may appear temporarily while the bank processes it.
  • Clicks go to the link you submitted, with query parameters removed, and the click count is shown on your row.
  • Every successful payment starts a fresh 30-day visibility term and replaces the standing bid with the paid amount.
  • Rank can change at any moment. Someone can pass you seconds after you reach the top. The board updates live for everyone.
  • Prefer not to compete at all? Six featured spots sit beside the board at a flat $29 for 30 days, outside the ranking entirely.

Why this is sponsorship, not bidding

People hear “highest amount wins” and think of an auction or a wager, so it is worth being precise about what actually happens here.

You are buying a fresh 30-day advertising term at a bid you choose before you pay. The full bid is charged and becomes the listing's standing amount when payment clears. The numbered position is not reserved: it follows the public board at fulfilment and can change after another successful bid. No interest is charged or earned.

That is the difference that matters. The problems with maysir and gharar come from paying into an outcome you cannot see — where you might get nothing, or where nobody can say in advance what service is being bought. Here the stated service is a 30-day sponsored listing governed by the same public ranking rule for everyone, not a guaranteed numbered position.

What sponsorship is not: it is not a scholarly endorsement, not a quality ranking, and not a claim that a listing is good, correct, or approved by anyone. Paid positions and operator-curated launch showcases are labelled separately on every row; showcase amounts are excluded from paid totals.
